Text

You can Place Text and Edit Text using the Text tool.

Place Text

Place text allows you to place the text for the signs. There are different editing settings available to customize the text as explained below.

Kerning Method- Allows adjustment of the spacing between letters for the entire text. The four methods are Normal, Percent Spacing, Specified Length, and Maximum Length.

Kerning method does not alter the geometry of the letter, only the spacing between letters. Setting the kerning method allows flexibility in determining overall sign size.

Actual Length - Actual Length is a read-only display of the resulting length of the text.

Font Style- Any True Type font can be used. The FHWA approved Highway fonts are included.

Font Color- The standard sign colors can be selected from the pick menu at the top of the dialog. Also, Other custom colors can be selected from the color selector or by color formulas.

Normal - follows the Federal spacing between letters and it is the default Kerning Method.

Percent Spacing - adjusts the spacing between letters but does not deform the letters. It may be used to increase or reduce character spacing in a word.

Specified Length - sets the word length to a specified value.

Maximum Length - sets the maximum word length so legend does not exceed the value entered

Text Alignment - Allows you to set the vertical alignment of different sized text. .

  • Top Alignment - The top of each upper case character is aligned vertically.
  • Middle Alignment - The center of each character is aligned vertically.
  • Baseline Alignment - The bottom of each character is aligned vertically.

Edit Text

Edit text allows you to edit existing text. There are different settings to customize the text. The editing options like Cut, Copy, Paste, and formatting options like Font Style, Font Size, Bold, Italics, Color, Symbols, and Background Color.
